ABOUT BEREAN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

We believe that home education can provide a better education by providing the one-on-one attention that your students need. Especially if you have special needs or gifted children who may need to move at a pace that wouldn't be obtainable in traditional school settings. Home education allows you as parents to emphasize biblical values and beliefs, instilling in your children worldviews and perspectives that will grow them both spiritual and intellectually. Home education promotes critical thinking, academic excellence, self-worth, individuality, and strong character. As well as offers flexibility in catering to the individual needs, talents and interests of it's students. At Berean Christian we want to partner with you in your home education journey as you reap the benefits that come with the choice to school from home.

“The home is the first and most effective place to learn the lessons of life: truth, honor, virtue, self control, the value of education, honest work, and the purpose and privilege of life. Nothing can take the place of home in rearing and teaching children, and no other success can compensate for failure in the home.”

― David O. McKay

OUR PHILOSOPHY

CORE VALUES

/

01

We believe that the ultimate responsibility of education of children belongs to parents. (Deuteronomy 5:6-9)

We believe that Godly character is essential in the training of children. (Proverbs 22:6, Ephesians 6:4)

We believe that parents should have the flexibility to choose what instruction best meets their child's needs. Providing that it meet California state education requirements.

We believe, "all scripture is given by God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." -2 Timothy 4

TRADITION OF FLEXIBILITY

/

“Too often we give children answers to remember rather than problems to solve.”
― Roger Lewin

At Berean Christian PSP, the ultimate responsibility of education lies with the home-educator. Most traditionally the parent. At Berean, it is our desire to provide home educators with the flexibility to raise up a generation of students that are taught to think and not to merely memorize facts. The goal of homeschooling is create competent, intelligent, grounded thinkers. Who are solid in character and faith. The fact that Berean is considerate of your children's specific needs and learning styles allows you the freedom and flexibility to move quickly through content your child learns easily and spend more time in areas your child struggles as a learner. It is our desire to work with you, to encourage and uplift you as you meet the individual needs of your individual children.

OUR HISTORY

OUR ROOTS

/

01

Berean Christian Private School Program was founded in Southern California in 1994 and has been steadily growing ever since. Berean's commitment was and is to provide families with the freedom to teach from home. Our Christian foundation is one that encourages families to focus not only on the academic but on spiritual and character development. Berean was founded by homeschool parents who had a vision for their children to become independent  creative, and to excel in academics all within a biblical worldview. It is Berean's commitment to provide advantages for your children and continue to meet state standard so they may have a bright future.

Prior to the compulsory education laws in 1918, homeschooling was the primary education option. Political leaders like George Washington, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt along with 10 other US presidents received a home based education. Homeschooling brought us scientists and inventors like, Albert Einstein  Booker T. Washington, Thomas Edison, Orvill and Wilbur Wright, and Alexander Graham Bell; it brought us artists like, Claude Monet, Leonardo da Vinci, Charlie Chaplin, Louis Armstrong, and Wolfgang Mozart. Not to mention some of the worlds most successful business men, impacting religious leaders, historical figures, creative minds, and hundreds of writers like the late C.S. Lewis.

Homeschooling isn't a new form of education. It is a tried and tested education with a success rate higher than any other form of education. Despite the fact that most parents are not certified in education, homeschool students average in the 88th percentile, 30% higher than the national public school student level. Homeschoolers are more likely to graduate from college, more likely to maintain high GPA's, to succeed regardless of how much was spent on their education, and to be less affected by external factors such as household income. The historical and statistical evidence in support of homeschooling probably explains the 75% increase of homeschool students since 1999. Berean is both proud of and looking onward to see how this new generation of homeschoolers and independent thinkers will impact their world as homeschoolers have done for centuries past.
